Deshaun Watson's Season Ends Abruptly
Browns Quarterback Undergoes Surgery
Revised Publish Date: November 15, 2023
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's season has come to an abrupt end. The Browns announced on Wednesday that Watson will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.
Watson suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. He was tackled awkwardly by Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon and immediately went down in pain. Watson was helped off the field by trainers and did not return to the game.
The Browns have gone 3-2 since Watson went on injured reserve. Jacoby Brissett has started the last five games at quarterback for the Browns and has led the team to a 4-6 record overall. The Browns are currently in third place in the AFC North, one game behind the Baltimore Ravens.
Watson's injury is a major blow to the Browns' playoff hopes. The Browns have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, and Watson's absence will make it even more difficult for them to make a run at the postseason.
