The Boston Celtics are one win away from capturing the 2024 NBA title after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-99 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points, while Jaylen Brown added 30 points. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 23 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack.

The Celtics built their fourth-quarter lead to 21 points before a frantic rally by the Mavericks. However, the Celtics were able to hold on for the win and take a 3-2 lead in the series.

The Celtics will have a chance to close out the series in Game 6 on Thursday night in Dallas. The Mavericks will need to win Game 6 and Game 7 in Boston to force a Game 8.
